English For Air Traffic Course 15004

DESCRIPTION

This 150-hour, 5-week intensive course is designed for non-native English speakers of intermediate proficiency who need to improve English skills for air traffic duties. The course aims to develop aviation language skills leading to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Operational Level 4 proficiency rating. In addition to technical language skills development and practice with ICAO air traffic control procedures, sessions include a social program with conversation partners, group work, individual projects, and opportunities for individual practice.

OBJECTIVES

Upon course completion, participants will be able to:
  • Understand and use vocabulary common to the air traffic and the aviation industry
  • Listen to and accurately understand a range of work related topics and aviation specific communications
  • Speak with pronunciation and fluency sufficient to communicate effectively, especially in radiotelephony

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

International aviation professionals with intermediate English skills who need to improve English proficiency for air traffic duties.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Course 15003 Introduction to Aviation English or knowledge of the aviation industry; good familiarity with Aviation English vocabulary; and an ability to read, speak, write and understand English at an intermediate level. A placement test may be administered.
