Airspace System Inspection Pilot/Technician (International) Course 15300051

DESCRIPTION

This 16-day course is designed for Airspace System Inspection Pilots and Airborne Technicians. It includes basic procedures as outlined in the U.S. Flight Inspection Manual (Order 8200.1A) for airborne inspection of air navigation facilities. This is a non-flying course for International participants and does not include training on Automated Flight Inspection Systems (AFIS). It is conducted in a classroom environment and con-sists of lecture, discussion and laboratory exercises.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the checks, aircraft maneuvers and tolerances required to perform commissioning and periodic inspections on the following air navigation facilities and Instrument Approach Procedures:
  • Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR)
  • Precision Approach Radar (PAR)
  • VHF Omni Range (VOR)
  • Non-Directional Beacon (NDB)
  • Instrument Landing System (ILS)
  • Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) Approaches
WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Pilots and Airborne Technicians who are responsible for flight inspecting air navigation aids. To get the most from the course, the participant should have several months of on-the-job-training (OJT) prior to attending to become familiar with the Flight Inspection Mission in general and specifically, flight inspection terminology, air navigation facility operation, and coordination with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and ground maintenance personnel. This course has been tailored to meet international needs. All enrollment spaces are reserved for international participants.
