DESCRIPTION This course describes FAA's role in the airborne electronic hardware (AEH) approval process, applicable policy, guidance, and job aids used to find compliance for AEH. RTCA/DO-254, Aircraft Certification AEH Job Aid for conducting the AEH development process reviews, and other special engineering topics used to substantiate AEH are described. Students will demonstrate their understanding by completing exercises that simulates the various stages of AEH review. Audience: Aviation Safety Engineers (ASEs) responsible for approving or reviewing systems involving AEH, designees who conduct AEH reviews & international certification authorities. Prerequisites: Learners have had 1) Software Fundamentals (FAA21030) or equivalent and 2). Software Job Functions course or equivalent*. POC: Gerald Pilj (405)954-0570. *Software Job Functions course may be either (1) FAA course FAA21045 or (2) FAA courses FAA25951 and FAA25952 for Comm/Nav/Surveillance personnel. If the second option is chosen, both courses FAA25951 and FAA25952 must be taken to meet the prerequisite. Course implemention date: June 2009 COURSE LENGTH: 40 hours. |
