Navigation Systems Concepts Course 41903

DESCRIPTION

This course is for specialists, engineers, support, and developmental personnel. The course is 148 hours Academy lecture and 28 hours Academy laboratory. Lecture subjects include algebra, geometry and trigonometry refresher; transmission line theory; antenna and radiation pattern theory; VOR introduction, theory, radiation patterns, and ground check analysis; Tacan introduction, theory, distance measurement, and Azimuth signal generation. Lab subject include transmission line and VOR bridge analysis; VOR introduction, monitor and control screens, space modulation concept and radiated signal analysis; Tacan introduction, pulse train, Azimuth test generator, and radiated signal analysis. Entire course is math intensive involving algebra, geometry, and trigonometry (electronics theory mathematics). All students will be required to use the course approved calculator (TI-36X) which will be provided. Six exams, one at the conclusion of each block of instruction, are administered to validate mastery of course objectives.
