Airspace and Procedures Course 50019

DESCRIPTION

This 12-day course consists of classroom and laboratory instruction on Air Traffic Control documents pertaining to Support Personnel in centers and terminal facilities. Participants will receive instructions on development and revision of routes, policy statements (e.g., LOA,LOP, etc.), air traffic procedures, military operations, review and response documents,and environmental considerations.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Modify and describe the contents of a Letter of Agreement (LOA), a Letter of Procedures (LOP), and Letter to Airmen (LTA). Prepare an LTA and describe the coordination and distribution procedures for other policy and informational documents. Describe the distribution and coordination requirements for written agreements, airmen modifications, and informational documents.
  • Describe functions of the traffic management system.
  • Prepare a Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA) /Minimum Instrument Altitude (MIA) chart. Develop and modify air traffic routes. Describe the appropriate procedure to redesign /establish a sector.
  • Describe general criteria in developing instrument procedures and draw an aircraft track. Describe types of Navaids and service volumes, and establishment, placement, and use of navigational aids.
  • Describe the purpose and responsibilities of the various FAA services in establishing fixes, and establish a fix.
  • Perform an airspace review.
  • Identify items and procedures used in video map modifications.
  • Identify procedures required in reviewing and granting waivers to FARs, other waiver requests, and to conduct aeronautical studies involving outdoor laser demonstrations.
  • Describe the environmental process. Identify and describe written documentation related to environmental impact.
  • Evaluate the impact of aircraft noise.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Facility Support Personnel in area control centers, terminals, regional offices, and headquarters.
