Enhanced Traffic Management Coordinator (ETMC)Course 50115

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this eight-day course is to train fully licensed air traffic control specialists selected for traffic management coordinator positions, supervisors, and personnel required to perform traffic management duties at their facilities. Topics include TM management system overview, use of the Enhanced Traffic Management System (ETMS) workstation, Severe Weather Management, Traffic Flow Management, and related programs and positions of the TMC. The course is conducted in both the classroom and laboratory environments, and is currently 64 hours in length.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Identify and describe the Traffic Management (TM) System, automation systems, terms, acronyms and definitions associated with TM, and operational positions.
  • Identify, describe and demonstrate Traffic Management Workstation operating system and programs including activating Aircraft Situation Display (ASD) functions.
  • Identify terms, procedures, and conditions for implementing Ground Delay Programs.
  • Identify, describe and demonstrate effective communication methods.
  • Identify, describe and implement terms and procedures associated with Arrival Flow Management (AFM), Departure Flow Management (DFM), and En route Flow Management (EFM).
  • Identify and describe airport capacity values and issues impacting those val-ues.
  • Define and describe terms, responsibili-ties and procedures associated with Severe Weather Management.
  • Define and describe the duties and responsibilities of the Weather Coordinator position in TM.
  • Define and describe the duties and responsibilities of the Mission Coordinator position in TM.
  • Describe the responsibilities associated with TM contingency plans.
  • Identify and describe the purpose and terms associated with the National Preferred Route Program and the National Route Program (NRP).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Facility support personnel in area control centers, terminals, regional offices, and headquarters who anticipate working in a traffic management coordinator position.
