  • AERONAUTICAL CENTER LIBRARY CIRCULATION POLICY

FAA order l750.13A, FAA Library Program, requires agency libraries to develop circulation rules regarding loan of agency library materials. The policies established by the Aeronautical Center Library are as follows:

      ELIGIBLE BORROWERS:

      1. Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and tenant employees stationed in Oklahoma City.
      2. Contract employees of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and tenant organizations stationed in Oklahoma City.
      3. Students at the Aeronautical Center attending Academy or other Department of Transportation conducted training.

      INFORMATION REQUIRED OF BORROWERS:

      1. Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center employees and tenant employees must provide a legible signature (including first and last name), routing symbol, and telephone extension on the circulation card for each item borrowed.
      2. Contract employees should provide a legible signature (including first and last name), routing symbol if available or name of contractor, and telephone extension on the circulation card for each item borrowed.
      3. Students at the Aeronautical Center should provide their course and class number or the name of the class being attended and the date they are leaving on the circulation card for each item borrowed.

      LOAN PERIOD:

Circulating materials and back issues of periodicals:
three week loan period with renewals allowed if the materials are not in demand.

Reference materials and current issues of periodicals:
Overnight only. ("Overnight" means checking material out late in the day and returning it early in the morning so as not to inconvenience other library users.)

Any materials on loan from the library should be returned before leaving the Aeronautical Center. Students should return any borrowed items before returning to their home office.

      Permanent loans are not allowed.

Borrowers should not leave the library with any materials which they have not checked out.

      OVERDUE MATERIALS:

Overdue notices will be sent for materials which are more than one month overdue.

Telephone requests for return of high-demand items or items for which there is a waiting list will be made as deemed necessary by the librarian.

      FINES:

No fines are charged for overdue books.

      LOST MATERIALS:

Borrowers who lose library materials are required to acquire a replacement for the item lost at their own expense. The library cannot accept money in payment for lost materials.

      RESTRICTIONS ON CIRCULATION:

      1. Only six items may be checked out at one time.
      2. Certain items in the library collection that are very valuable or in frequent demand will not circulate.
      3. Only those groups listed as eligible borrowers are granted borrowing privileges. The Aeronautical Center Library has interlibrary loan arrangements with public, corporate, and university libraries for those wishing to borrow materials who are not members of the Aeronautical Center community.
